The Rules of Three Card Poker

Played with a regular 52 card deck, Three Card Poker is a fast-paced poker game with only three cards for each player and three cards for the dealer. It has two distinct bets, one bet you play against the dealer, the second is a wager that the final value of your hand will be a pair or better. The dealer must have a Queen or higher to qualify for play.

Betting

To begin, place an Ante bet to play against the dealer, or a Pair Plus bet to gamble solely on the value of your hand, or both Ante and Pair Plus bets. The Ante and Pair Plus bets may be of the same or different amounts, but you must place them before any cards are dealt.

After placing your bet(s), click on the "deal" button. The dealer deals three cards to each player and himself. If you have made an Ante bet, you have another decision to make. If you think your hand will beat the dealer, you must click on "play" to place a bet in the Play bet area equal to the Ante bet. If you don't think your hand will beat the dealer, you can click on "fold" and forfeit the Ante.

If the dealer does not have a Queen or higher, the Play bet pushes and the dealer pays even money for all Ante bets. If the dealer qualifies, he compares his hand against yours. If the dealer has a better hand, he collects the Ante and Play bets. If you have a better hand, the dealer pays even money for both the Ante and Play bets. If your hand ties the dealer's hand, you win 1 to 1 on your Ante and Play bets. Regardless of the dealer's hand, if your hand is a straight or better, the dealer pays an additional Ante Bonus of even money for a straight, 4-to-1 for three of a kind, and 5-to-1 for a straight flush.

The Pair Plus wager is always independent of the dealer's hand. The Pair Plus bet pays even money for any pair, 4-to-1 for a flush, 6-to-1 for a straight, 30-to-1 for three of a kind, and 40-to-1 for a straight flush. The Pair Plus bet is paid even if the dealer's hand is stronger than yours.

Hand Rankings:

Higher-ranked hands always beat lower-ranked hands. For example: a straight always beats a flush, and a straight flush always beats three of a kind.

Notes:

  • Ace is always high except in a 3-2-Ace hand, which is the lowest straight. (3-2-Ace suited is the lowest straight flush.)
  • If you make both an Ante bet and a Pair Plus bet, and you see that your Pair Plus hand is a winner, you must place a Play bet to stay in the game.
